An N95 respirator is a respiratory protective device. It is designed to fit the face more closely than ordinary masks and works as a very efficient filtration of airborne particles. “N” means “Not resistant to oil”, which can be used to protect non-oily suspended particles; “95” means that the filtration efficiency is greater than or equal to 95%, indicating that after careful testing, this respirator can block at least 95% of very small (0.3 Micron level) test particles.
Masks that come with an N90 rating can filter up to 90% of the particulate matter 2.5 from the air. The 'N90' designation means that the respirator blocks at least 90 percent of very small (0.3 microns) test particles.
Medical-surgical masks can be used as a barrier between the mouth and nose of wearers. It is mainly used in medical clinics, laboratories, operating rooms, and other high-demand medical environments. Medical-surgical masks have a strong resistance to bacteria and viruses. In daily life, they can be used to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as influenza and respiratory system, and to prevent patients from transmitting the virus to others. Medical-surgical masks can block particles larger than 4 microns in diameter. Tests conducted in a mask-enclosed laboratory in a hospital environment show that, according to general medical standards, for 0.3-micron particles, the permeability of medical surgical masks is 18.3%.

What are the differences between KN95 and N95?
KN95 is one of the levels specified in the Chinese standard GB2626-2006 while N95 is one of the levels specified in 42 CFR 84. The technical requirements and test methods of these two levels are the same.
