Hi, I’m Alex — the lead designer behind the MATEIN Mlassic backpack series. I’ve always believed that design isn’t about decoration. It’s about making life easier, smarter, and just a little more elegant in the process. Before joining MATEIN in 2018, I was the guy who traveled too much, lost too many chargers, and could never find his pen when he needed it. That’s exactly the energy I brought into designing the Mlassic series — born in 2019 with one simple goal: make everyday carry effortless, no matter who you are or where you're headed.
A Design That Carries More Than Just Stuff
When I started sketching what would become the Mlassic, I kept hearing one thing from people around me — “I just need one bag that does it all.” So that’s where I began: not with what it looks like, but what it needs to do.
Mlassic is our love letter to modern versatility. Laptop backpack? Yes. College companion? Absolutely. Travel sidekick? Of course. From the dedicated padded laptop compartment (fits up to 15.6” or even 18.4” in the larger sizes) to the hidden anti-theft pocket that I stubbornly fought to include — every element is purposeful.
I designed compartments the way I like my brain to work: organized. A place for your phone. Your pens. Your keys (hello, key fob hook). Water bottles, books, passport — everything has a home, so you're never digging for it in panic mode.
Why Grey? And Also 15 Other Colors?
You’ll notice the classic version is in grey — the color of balance, neutrality, and, let’s be real, it just goes with everything. But we didn’t stop there. From galaxy blue to mustard yellow to peacock teal, the full palette now spans 16 hues. Why? Because your bag should match your energy, not just your outfit.
Function Wears the Crown
The Mlassic’s structure is lightweight but built to last — made from high-density, water-repellent polyester that survived my personal “coffee spill test” more times than I care to admit. I obsessed over airflow — that’s why the back panel has multi-panel padding to make long hauls feel a little less like, well, hauling.
One of my favorite hidden gems? The luggage strap. It’s that “ahh” moment when you're at the airport and your backpack glides effortlessly over your suitcase handle. Small detail, huge impact.
